Who Should Take the Level 3 Course?
Are you a supervisor or manager working in the hospitality industry? You need the skills and knowledge to enable you and your team to perform at your best, comply with existing food standards legislation and make sure your staff and customers are safe.
Our Food Hygiene and Safety Level 3 – Catering course provides advanced training to those working in the food preparation industry. It is essential that the food you prepare is safe and that risks to customers, such as food poisoning, are mitigated. If your commercial premises serve food, you need to make sure you have the knowledge and expertise to guide your team.
Ideally you will have taken the food safety level 1 and the food safety level 2 first. This will give you an all-round understanding and make the level 3 food safety course easier to complete.
We aim to give you the tools to design working processes to keep your workstations and environment safe. Our course is based on adherence to UK legislation as overseen by the Food Standards Agency and is approved by The Royal Society in the Prevention of Accidents.

Our Food Hygiene and Safety Level 3 – Catering course is a critical tool in the arsenal of those working in the hospitality sector. It is recommended that every workplace where food is prepared should have at least one member of staff that has completed this training.
But what makes our courses so special? Unlike a conventional in-person training course, our training can be completed remotely. You can complete the modules in your own time and at your own pace, there are no deadlines or course start and end dates to adhere to.
The Food Hygiene and Safety Level 3 – Catering course will take approximately eight to ten hours to complete. Exact participation time varies depending on the student how keen you are to finish!
What will I learn from the Food Hygiene and Safety Level 3 – Catering course?
Food Hygiene and Safety Level 3 – Catering course has been designed with supervisors and managers in mind. If you have responsibility of an area of business that includes serving food to consumers, either on-site or to take away, then this course is essential.
This is one of our more advanced courses. So we cover a lot of content that will be critical for senior staff to assuredly oversee the processes in your workplace. Also too ensure you are adhering to minimum standards.
The modules covered in the Food Hygiene and Safety Level 3 – Catering course include:
Food Safety Standards (Modules 1- 5) We cover the importance of food safety and the relevant legislation that needs to be adhered to. This includes mitigating the risk of containment and understanding micro-organisms.
Food-Borne Illnesses (Modules 6 – 10) This module discusses the risks of food-borne illnesses, including food poisoning, and how they can be prevented. We cover hygiene and safety processes such as danger zone temperature UK checks, safe storage and reducing contamination.
Systems and Processes (Modules 11 – 15) In this section we take you through the best practice of food preparation. This includes how to design your workspace appropriately as well as how to maintain food standards more generally. This includes the correct processes for cleaning, waste disposal and disinfection.
Food Safety Management Systems (Modules 16 and 17) The final module looks at specific food management systems. This will be such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and describes how they can be practically applied. such as colour coded chopping boards.
Will I receive a certificate for completing the Food Hygiene and Safety Level 3 – Catering course?
Yes, you will receive a certificate once you have finished the course. To complete the course, you need to successfully pass a final test that confirms you have learned the key parts from each module. There is also a short test at the end of each module so you can verify your progress.
To pass, you need to achieve a score of 21 out of 30 or greater on the final assessment. You will then be able to download and print out your certificate of completion.
Our certificate is approved by The Royal Society in the Prevention of Accidents. Consequently, you can be confident it contains the latest best practice and policy guidance on food hygiene and safety.
This course – like the rest of our training portfolio – is also endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality. Of course this is widely recognised within the hospitality sector.
